Learning together from my mistakes

Posted in category Best practices, Wordpress

So remember when I said that I’d share with you what I am learning?

Well, I’ve just learned that it is very important to view a website in multiple browsers. Actually, I’ve known this, but have neglected to do it. As a result, I learned this morning that this blog looks terrible in Internet Explorer.

If you use Firefox as your browser, all is fine. If you are using IE, the right side appears to be a huge sea of blank blue space. But if you scroll all the way down, beneath the very first post, you will see what should be the sidebar. The ‘RSS Subscription” box is supposed to be to the right of this post.

I have no idea right now how to fix it, and no time to research it for the next few days.

Why is this important? Because this post was supposed to be about subscribing to this blog. And you need to be able to find that “RSS Subsription” box to know what I’m talking about.

So stay tuned. I’ll get it fixed, somehow, in the next few days.

Thanks for your patience.

Update: Yes, it’s fixed. The culprit was an image that was too large. Let’s take this as an illustration that this is not going to be a completely smooth process. It will be frustrating at times. But it will be worthwhile — you’ll see.
