Cool idea: Virtual Front Table
I”m spending the week catching up on my blog reading, and happend upon a post at Conversational Reading describing the new feature at Chicago’s Seminary Co-op bookstore blog: The Front Table.
Yes, it is really a virtual front table. Go take a look. Covers of each book are shown and if you hover over it with your mouse, you can get complete title information. If you click on the book cover, you are taken to the store’s Booksense.com site to purchase the book. I also like that inventory information is shown when you click through, along with the date and time that the inventory was updated.
I have never been to The Seminary Co-op stores, and I don’t know if the virtual front table replicates a table at the physical store, but it’s a terrific way to make the connection between online and brick-and-mortar locations. I get a clear sense of the titles and types of books that are important to the store, without having to spend a lot of time clicking through lists of titles.
